I of course am a member of facebook. I actually think I am rather addicted to keeping up with my friends from around the world. Although sometimes it feels a little bit more like stalking. For those of you who are members of the facebook community you know that the fb world has been bombarded with the "25 most random things list". Well I finally broke down and did this and thought I would post it on my blog so that you can get to know me more. I have always known that I am completly random, so this list was fun for me! Enjoy.
1. My life is like a giant contradiction...you will probably get that after reading this.
2. I love the small mountain towns AND big cities...my favorite places are Alaska/Colorado and Charleston/NYC.
3. I have the ability to pick up a million and one hobbies and be marginally good at them. But I have a problem sticking with them....I guess I get bored easily.
4. I have loved taking photographs since I can remember, but only now realized that it is something I want to pursue further.
5. I like to talk on the phone while I drive....it makes the time pass. But when I get home I rarely answer my phone. Plus my little adobe house doesn't have great service.
6. I enjoy hanging out with friends and keeping busy but am finding that alone time or time spent at home with my boys is about all I need most days.
7. I love my family so much it hurts.
8. My brother and I were born on the same day two years apart....which apparently was license for my mom to dress us as twins.
9. I really enjoy having things clean and in order, however, become overwhelmed in life and let it get out of hand....then I just cope.
10. I have lived all over the place and worked at some really cool places, jambo this means hello in swahili(safari guide in disney world)! My bf is convinced I will never be happy staying put.
11. I love the South but yearn for the mountains of the west. Decisions, decisions.
12. I am probably going to marry a man who is the farthest from what I could imagined, yet I am incredibly happy.
13. I have the coolest dog in the world, his name is Hunter, I am pretty convinced that he is a freak of nature. He is practically perfect in every way and is more of a human than a k-9. Oh yea and if he likes you he will nibble your ears.
14. I have been struggling with my weight for ages despite the fact that i eat healthy (except for an afternoon visit to Tom's mini candy bowl to keep up the energy) and I am pretty active, but not enough. I have learned that strength training is key.
15. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to shop. But due to the fact that photography is a super expensive hobby or career, I have had to learn to control myself in the clothes department so that I can buy lenses! :)
16. I love to scrapbook and have tons of fun scrapbooking stuff, but rarely take the time to do it.
17. I am awesome at writing letters, but horrible at sending them.
18. I have friends all over the world, that come in every shape and color, you name it. And I love them all.
19. Even though I have never been there my heart is in Africa.
20. I love Jesus!!!
21. I have a new townie, and am pretty sure that riding downtown with brett for breakfast is about the coolest thing to do on a weekend.
22. I have been singing since I was a little kid and thought I would be famous one day. I abandoned that dream in high school and thought I would be a large animal vet....now I am in Development and PR (I am not sure how that happened), but I love it.
23. I am ready to have babies (bring on the twins) :) But really I only think I want two.
24. If you ask brett he will tell you that I take an idea and run with it. IE: the brown and blue color palette of my house, the fact that I have frames, sconces, and candles in every room, and oh yea I like to wear brown so I can match Hunter! :)
25. I spend every day trying to get myself to where I want to be, a woman of God, who loves Him with all of my heart and treats others as I would want to be treated. But I don't try hard enough.
26. I am all about going green. I am collecting cool reusable bags, love it! PS You should go green too! :)

The unpredictable life...
I think God uses the strangest of circumstances to get us to take a step back and look at our lives. Every small circumstance or frustration is a reflection of who you are and ultimately a revelation of who God is. I stumbled upon this thought after several situations today. For starters this morning I woke up, scrambled to get ready to leave for work an hour early as I had errands to run. I look out the window, once I came up from the dungeon from which I live, only to find snow covering the ground and complete white out conditions.
Now for those of you who know me you know that I am religously following the weather and sending my prayers up to the Lord waiting for snow. So I should have been joyful that my prayers were answered, but somehow I wasn't, I was annoyed. The reason for that is that this snow wasn't planned. There was no snow in the forecast, no waiting for days in anticipation...nothing! Over the last couple of months I have been constantly disappointed by the big white storm on the way...that never comes.
I realized that we cannot plan out everything, if you know me then you know that I am a planner to the extreme my friend pointed this out to me again today. I am reminded that all we can do is enjoy our lives and anticipate that God will send us little suprises along the way. I am trying to learn to plan less and enjoy more. :)

It's the Little Things...

Today has been a really awful day for me. The kind that rocks your world and makes you rethink where you are going in life. In the midst of that I have to say that I work with the most amazing ladies ever! They brought me starbucks and hugs, making the ability to make it through another day so much easier. I am thankful for the little things....thank you notes, suprise cups of coffee, or a hug when you least expect it. What are the little things in your life that you are thankful for?

A New Year...

Well I suppose that the mark of the new year means for many the start of tackling that to do list or rather as some people call it their new year's resolutions. I will not lie, I too have many things that I would like to improve upon in the new year.
I want to eat better (shopping organic and sticking to the outer aisles), exercise more(hello gym, goodbye snooze button), treat our planet better (time to take it a step beyond my beloved reusable shopping bags), be more creative (this could be a whole entire additional entry in itself), and perhaps most importantly to learn to say no and not overcommit(something I have been attempting to do my entire life.)
This to do list to improve life is something that is always at the back of our minds. I don't think that the new year marks the only occassion to attempt to improve ourselves and our world, but rather a chance to vocalize our goals and allow others to hold us accountable. What are you looking forward to tackling this year??
